Animal Commencal

This is what it's all about. Mt St Anne, in preparation for world champs 2010 spruced up the outdoor moto hip section with a few much appreciated kickers. Early on day one practice Dan Atherton boosts for the cameras and overhead cheers from his peers passing above in the gondolas.

THE ATHERTON PROJECT

Episode 6 filmed by Clay Porter sees some amazing footage from the guys mid season break at home as well as Gee's big crash in Maribor. Check out Dan and Gee as they hit up the backyard and the Quarry while Rach finally gets back on the training bike. Sorry to all those having issues with downloading the project from iTunes we have recently swapped servers which has caused a few blips, please re subscribe here.

RACH VOWS TO COME BACK FASTER AND STRONGER FOR 2010

We have taken the decision not to rush Rach back into competition this year and instead she is focussing on being fully fit for the 2010 season. The decision was made after consultation with the surgeons and specialists used by the British Cycling team. Rach has been on the training and xc bike for the past six weeks however she needs more time to build the muscle mass in her shoulder. Rach is obviously gutted not to be defending her World Championship crown but is already looking ahead to next year:“Taking time out of racing is incredibly hard, but the hunger it leaves you with is amazing – even now I am getting excited about next year and I cannot wait for the battle to commence!” You can read more from Rach via her blog

DAN INJURY UPDATE

Riding like a man possessed Dan really made a mark at the recent World Cup in Bromont. Winning every round up until the final he looked the favourite to take the win. A first corner pile up put pay to this as Dan went down hard in the final, picking him self up he made his way down the track one handed to pick up third spot. In the crash he sustained a shoulder injury that was feared to be another broken scapula. However following an x-ray and ultrasound we are pleased to hear that there is no major damage to Dan's shoulder. He is already back on the training bike with all eyes on the gold medal in Canberra. UCI NISSAN WORLD CUP SERIES UPDATE

Two solid results from Gee out in Canada leave him still in the running for the overall, Sam Hill is out ahead with 1219 points closely followed by South African Greg Minnar with 1203, Brit Steve Peat sits in third with 1150 points and Gee in fourth with 1078. With 250 points available at the finals in Schladming it is still mathematically possible for Gee to take the overall win.

If Gee took the win in Austria he would need Sam to finish in 7th Greg in 6th and Steve in 3rd to win the title, this may be a tall order but as this year has shown anything is possible!

UCI WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

The team leaves for Australia and the World Championships on the 25th August as part of Team Great Britain. Headed for Canberra Gee is looking to defend his World title on a course which favours a strong pedlar, its a good job he Red Bull performance coach Darren Roberts has been on hand over the last 10 days. He has inflicted just enough pain on Dan and Gee to ensure they are on top form come the final event down under. Keep a track of the teams build up to the big event on Twitter, Facebook or our website
